About Us

Making disciples of Jesus since 1889!

First Baptist Church of Shelton began on April 12, 1889, when six people faithfully gathered to start a ministry in downtown Shelton. From a small one-room building, God has grown it into the 26,000-square-foot church that still stands on the same site today.

Through seasons of both challenge and victory, God has remained faithful-shaping us into His likeness and allowing us to serve Mason County in His name. Our pastors and elders continue to shepherd the church family by holding fast to God's Word and living out truth, character, community, and mission.

We rejoice in God's work through the generations-lives given to Christ, baptisms, missionaries sent, and the everyday joys and sorrows of walking together in gospel living.

Looking ahead, we trust God's plans for FBC and invite you to join us in the journey of making-and being made-disciples of Jesus.

First Baptist Church exists to make and to be made disciples of Jesus: a people of Truth, with Character, in Community, and on Mission.

A People of Truth - Believing What Jesus Believed

Since the Truth is a person (Jesus), a message (the Gospel), and a book (the Bible), our mission is to help people grow in their love of Jesus, His Story, and His Word.

People With Character - Living Like Jesus Lived

Since God wants us to have the Character of Jesus, our mission is to help people grow to be more like Jesus in their character, thoughts, words, and actions.

A People In Community - Loving Like Jesus Loved

Since Community is critical for people becoming disciples, our mission is to be a place filled with vibrant gospel-centered relationships, a place where people are mutually encouraged and challenged to follow Jesus in the context of a faith-family.

A People On Mission – Serving Like Jesus Served

Since every Christian should be on Mission, our mission is to be a group of people who loves our neighbors in Mason County and all around the world the way Jesus would. God has commissioned you and I to make more people His people at home and abroad.
